Lakhimpur District Court Notification 2024: Lakhimpur District Court has released an official notification for positions of Office Assistant & Peon. According to the official notification of Lakhimpur Judiciary, there are only 02 vacancies available.
Applications are invited from eligible candidates who are citizens of India in the Standard Form as published in the Assam Gazette in Part IX, for filling up one post of Office Assistant (Contractual) and one post of Office Peon (Contractual) in the office of the District Legal Services Authority, Lakhimpur, Assam, as per the Legal Aid Defence Counsel Scheme (Modified), 2022, for a period of one year on an honorarium basis. The honorarium for these positions will be paid according to the LADCS Modified Scheme, 2022, of NALSA.

Education Qualification
- Office Assistant : Education Qualification
- Graduation in any discipline.
- Basic word processing skills and the ability to operate a computer and feed data.
- Good typing speed with proper setting of petitions.
- Ability to take dictation and prepare files for presentation in the courts.
- File maintenance and processing knowledge.
- Peon : Education Qualification
- Passed Class VIII but not Class XII.
Lakhimpur Jobs: Age Criteria
Candidates must not be less than 18 years or more than 40 years of age as on 01.01.2024. The upper age limit is relaxable as per Government norms.
Lakhimpur District Court Recruitment: Work Profile
1. Office Assistant (Contractual)
- Keeping updated records of legal-aided cases.
- Uploading the updated records/progress of legal-aided cases on the NALSA portal and digital platforms as per directions.
- Maintaining complete files of legal-aided cases and keeping files with proper index in a systematic manner.
- Typing applications, petitions, appeals, etc.
- Performing ministerial work related to cases such as filing applications for copies of orders, judgments, etc.
- Any other work/duty assigned by the Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel.
- Any work assigned by the Legal Services Authority.
- All duties assigned to the Receptionist cum Data Entry Operator.
2. Peon Post
- General work of MTS, Munshi, or Peon.
- Cleaning the office before commencement of office hours.
- Ensuring that all places in the office are kept clean.
- Bringing and serving water and beverages to visitors in the office.
- Carrying dak (mail) and miscellaneous work.
- Any work assigned by the Legal Services Authority.

How to Apply for Lakhimpur Judiciary Recruitment 2024?
- Applicants who fulfill the eligibility criteria should fill up the standard form in block letters using a blue/black pen only.
- The applicant must paste one recent passport-size color photograph in the specified box and sign in the box specified therein.
- The filled-up “Application Form,” along with copies of self-attested testimonials regarding educational qualifications, age, experience certificate, character certificate, and any other relevant documents, should be submitted by the applicant along with two (2) copies of recent passport-size color photographs, duly signed by the candidates on the reverse side.
- The filled-up “Application Form,” along with the said documents, including photographs, should be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to “The Chairman, Office of District Legal Services Authority, Lakhimpur, North Lakhimpur.” The candidate should also prominently indicate “Post applied for: Office Assistant/Peon” on the envelope containing the Application Form.
- The sealed envelope should be dropped in a drop box provided at the Office of the District Legal Services Authority, Lakhimpur, North Lakhimpur.
- Candidates serving in Government Departments should submit their applications through the proper channel from his/her employer.
- Candidates with a professional driving license and experience in electrical works shall be given preference.

1. Selection to the above mentioned posts will be made on the basis of Computer Skill test and Interview/viva-voce for the post of Office Assistant and interview/viva-voce for the post of Peon
2. The tentative date of the interview/Viva-voce will be notified on the website of the District Judiciary, Lakhimpur for further information before one week of the date fixed for skill test and interview/viva-voce.

About Lakhimpur District Court
Lakhimpur district is situated on the North-East corner of Assam,bounded on the North by Lower Subansiri and Papumpare districts of Arunachal Pradesh. On the East by Dhemaji district and Subansiri river. Majuli district and the mighty Brahmaputra stand on the Southern side and Gohpur Sub division of Biswanath district is on the Western side of this district. District of Lakhimpur has the distinction of one of the few districts of Assam,where Administration of Justice was initiated by the British Empire since 1838-1839.
At that time,there was no any local learned counsel to conduct cases,and the British Rulers had picked up some persons,who knew English and appointed them as defence counsels. Gradually,the said persons practiced in Civil Cases also. In North Lakhimpur,Lt.Muktinath Chakraborty was appointed as defence counsel in the year 1897. Later on,in the year 1899,Lt.Aswini Sarkar and in the year 1901,Lt.Kesalal Sarkar who were Muktiuars,settled here for practice in law. Lt.Phanidhar Chaliha was the first Munsiff at North Lakhimpur in the year 1898. So, Munsiff Court was establishment by the British Rulers here way back in the year 1898 or prior to that. Prior to 2nd Oct.1971, present Lakhimpur district was the sub-division of the then Lakhimpur district i.e.present Lakhimpur,Dhemaji and Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts with head quarter at Dibrugarh and the Sessions Cases were tried at Dibrugarh and sometimes circuit court was held in the circuit house of Lakhimpur.
