The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), an Institute of National Importance, invites applications from exceptionally bright and motivated Indian nationals with an established record of high-quality research and development and a strong commitment to teaching. This special recruitment drive for backlog vacancies in the SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PWBD categories is for Assistant Professor positions (Grade 1 and Grade II) in various scientific divisions, to be posted at the headquarters and other centres/branches/outlying units of the Institute. Duties include undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, research supervision, consultancy, training, and departmental and institutional activities. The Institute makes constant efforts to recruit faculty members from various reserved categories, and this advertisement is part of such a focused initiative

ISI Vacancy : Education Qualification

1. Assistant Professor (Grade I): Education Qualification & Experience

  • Ph.D. in the appropriate branch.
  • A first class or equivalent at the preceding degree.
  • Should have at least 3 years of post-Ph.D. research/ teaching/industrial experience.

2. Assistant Professor (Grade II) : Education Qualification & Experience

  • Bright young Ph.D.s to teach and earn experience.

ISI Recruitment 2024: Age Limit

1. Assistant Professor (Grade I): Age Limit

  • Preferably below 35 years
  • Relaxation as per Goi norms.

Indian Statistical Institute Recruitment : Pay Level

Pay Level for Assistant Professor Positions at ISI (as per 7th CPC) 

1. Assistant Professor Grade I

  • Grade I: Level 12
  • After completion of three years in service in Level 12, the pay will be fixed at Level 13A1.

  2. Assistant Professor Grade II

  • Grade II: Level 10
  • After one year of post Ph.D. experience, these Assistant Professor Grade II shall be placed in the Pay Level 11.

Temporary appointment for a maximum period of 3 (three) years

Communications to any other email address will not be entertained.
  • The Institute reserves the right to screen and call only those candidates for a seminar and/or interview who are found suitable based on the merit of their applications and the current needs of the Institute. Thus, fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria does not entitle one to be called for a seminar and/or interview.
